Malaria Vaccines
Delivery by Health Careers International
Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.
Although most of the cases of malaria occur in sub-Saharan Africa, South-East Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are also at risk. In 2015, 91 countries and areas had ongoing malaria transmission.
In addition, there are some vulnerable groups that are at a higher risk of contracting malaria and consequently severe disease. These groups are infants, children under 5 years of age, pregnant women and patients with HIV/AIDS, as well as non-immune migrants, mobile populations and travelers. This course aims to make clinicians aware of the vaccines available for malaria and the need for them.
