Communication is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages or information, as by speech, visuals, signals, writing, or behaviour. It is imperative in the health care environment and occurs between various individuals on a daily basis by way of verbal, non-verbal and written communication. In order to develop trust between healthcare providers and their patients/residents, it is important that effective communication is developed and maintained.
Documentation provides a legal record of care provided. Specific principles, standards, policies, procedures, and processes are part of the documentation system.
This course helps to improve the knowledge of health professionals regarding communication and documentation so that they can develop trust with their patients and other healthcare providers, and be legally safe.
