About the course
All living things reproduce. This is something that sets the living apart from non-living. Even though the reproductive system is essential to keeping a species alive, it is not essential to keeping an individual alive. This course describes the different parts of the female reproductive system: the organs involved in the process of reproduction, hormones that regulate a woman's body, the menstrual cycle, ovulation and pregnancy other diseases and disorders.
Gynecology is a branch of medicine that specializes in the treatment of women - specifically, the treatment of diseases and problems of the reproductive organs. A gynecological disorder is a condition which affects the female reproduction organs. Virtually every woman will suffer a gynecological condition at some point in her life. For most, it will be minor and easily treatable, but for others their condition may have devastating consequences - impacting their ability to have children and even, with some illnesses, threaten their life.
This course is aimed at improving the knowledge of nurses on such issues. Every nurse must be ready to understand the problems faced by women and have the ability to explain the details to them. Good knowledge helps the nurse to understand the problems of the patient better, thus enabling them to provide improved health care.
